I would like to thank all who have come here and found a FFRP channel they liked! Back on 10/12/98, I came up with the idea of jetting around in search of other FFRP IRC Channels. In fact, I found more that I cared to look into. I've stepped into Smut FFRPs.. God Ego FFRPs .. And general "I'm the owner and you do what I tell you to do" FFRP channels. I personally know just how upsetting it can all be, so.. I started keeping track of differant sites and channels.. and ended up publishing my finding here.

Now, I return and look for more as well as step back into other channels I've already encountered...Why??? To help you find joy and happiness in the world of Free Form Role Playing.. thats why!.. and now.. On with the show!!!!!

What is the Review?:

To put it simply, its a web page designed to have a good look at Free Form Role Playing Channels on the mIRC, AOL, Prodigy and Java based Chat rooms. Haven't you had enough of going into an FFRP room and sit there doing nothing? Or walk into a room just in time to get banned for something that you didn't do or have no control over? Or maybe, you're just tired of hunting for a good place to go! If you answered "Yes" to any of the above statements, then this page is just for you! Up-Date notes!!!!: I'll be adding other areas from IRC Server Clients!!!!

How do you rate rooms?:

I rate rooms in many ways. First, I look at how a person is treated when you get in there. Second, I check out just how tight the rules are for the room. Third, I listen to any and all storylines going on in the room. Forth, How many Ops are in a channel.. will it overwhelm me? After I have seen all of the above, I'll count up my score and have a rating for a room. I'll show the rating as "Stars" and here is the Star now!!! . A score of "0" means the channel is completely useless and should hang their heads in shame, "1" means, slow, very little FFRPing going on, "2" means .. O'k, but whats the story about and am I welcome to join in?, "3" means Not bad, but it leaves room for improvement, "4" means o'k... this is more like it and finally "5" means "WOW!!!! Outstanding channel!!!"

And why should I do all this??

Easy to answer this question. I have been RPing for over 20 years and FFRPing for about 6 years.. any questions. The Special IRC Review!

There has been a battle of the IRC networks for years now.. whats better?? Undernet?? DalNet?? Efnet??.. There is many IRC connections.. where to go??.. How do I get there?? Only you can answer these and many other questions. All I can offer you is my own insight to other IRC servers. I'll try to give you some pro's and con's.. with server addresses and let you pick.

1]Undernet :Ports: 6650-6690

Undernet.org has hundreds of channels to pick from but, it takes a long time to get through all the channels just to find one of interest. Looking for a channel here can get a little confusing if your new and have no idea where you want to go. You can register a channel and own your own home away from home, but.. you need ten e-mail addresses and know all the address syntex's and also wait until all are checked out. I don't think you can register your nick name on undernet.org END!

2]3Dnet :IRC Server: irc.3dnet.net : Ports: 6667

For three days I've been trying to log onto 3Dnet with no luck. I keep getting the same message repeatedly:

Connecting to *** Connecting to irc.3dnet.net (6667)-

Local host: M00NStrkr (xxx.xx.xxx.xxx)-

*** Unable to resolve IRC server

I'm not going to call this a dead link, but after doing a dos tracert for irc.3dnet.net, the result was "Unable to resolve target server name irc.3dnet.net" END!

3]AceStar :IRC Server: irc.acestar.org : Ports: 6667

This IRC server has a very low user count and is up 24/7. You can register a channel and nick name all in the same day.. the cost??.. nadda! The syntex to register a nick name here is "/nickserv register [Your Nick Name] [Your password]". Its that easy.. the only draw back... not to many people come here. END!

4] Aegeus: IRC Server: irc.aegeus.net : Ports: 6667

This IRC server has a rather large following [1900 plus users] and is up 24/7. You can register a channel and nick name all in the same day.. the cost??.. nadda! The syntex to register a nick name here is "/nickserv register [Your Nick Name] [Your password]". Its that easy.END!

IRC: Undernet.org

• #Vampyres`Haven:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments:Only 2 "op" was present at the time I visited this Inn. After talking to the owner.. I get a good feeling about how and why this channel works. I would say to anyone reading this to go and visit this channel, you too will agree with me that its pretty good!!!! As I waiting and talking, I noticed that a player wanted to RP, without waiting long for an answer... the answer was "Sure thing!!!". I see great FFRPing in the future for this channel!!!!My rating:

• #BlackRoseInn:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments:Only 1 "op" was present at the time I visited this Inn. You don't get welcomed, but, you do recieve a welcome in OOC. The people are very nice to hangout with and even the story lines are great. The overall feel of this channel was good. Its set in midevil times and sometimes this channel will even do storylines set in modern times. The story lines are slow to start, but gain speed and enjoyment! If you visit this channels web site, you'll get a full set of house rules and over all view of the channel. My rating:

• #Shamus&Shaman:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments:When I first walked into this Inn, there where no "OPs" present. I did recieve a warm greeting for many people in this channel. It was nice to be welcomed into it.. I felt like I was at home here. There is a fair amount of FFRPing going on in this Inn. The theme of the channel is modern times [1998]. You will find plenty of vampires, and mages here. Overall, I enjoyed myself!! My rating:

• #StarDragonInn:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments: In all fairness, I returned to the StarDragonInn and once more sat there and watched as a storyline unfolded. I also looked around and saw only 1 op this time. I had to ask myself one question... "With 7 players present, why are only 2 of them interacting in a storyline??" Granted, the storyline was interesting.. but it was set for two only. In days of old in this inn, there was much going on. I give the inn some respect that they are willing to try to improve. Maybe in the near future, the storylines and players will increase.. for now, I'll increase the rating as well.My rating:

• #Legion_of_Chaos: Re-Opened!!
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments: As you walk into this Inn, your greeted by a bot, and there are few ops here. Its very quite at times,but.. when there are storylines in progress, your in for a treat! This Inn doesn't get the full credit that it should. And it could stand to improve itself just a little.My rating:

• #StormWind: Closed
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments:Friendly, warm, and little ops. The only real problem I found in this Inn is that its still a new FFRPing channel and is in need of a few good charaters to get things started! I foresee this Inn will and can improve over time! My rating:

• #SilverBladeInn:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments:At the time I entered this place, it was jam packed with FFRPers, but very little FFRPing action. Its a great place to meet others, but it lacks the storylines needed to keep them there. This Inn has a lot of ops and could stand to lose a few of them as to not scare off new FFRP charaters. Don't get me wrong, its a good place.. it just needs to correct a few small problem to gain a better ratingMy rating:

• #PeacefulWarriorInn:Private IRC Server
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments:I remember this place from a few years ago and at that time I would have given it a rating of 4 tekki men, but it closed. It has re-open and needs to gain FFRP charaters. There is a bot that greets you, I would advice you to be careful when dealing with this bot, he's down right rude! As for ops, few have them. The storyline are very interesting and open to any who wish to foretake in them. In time, this place will increase its rating.My rating:

• #Shadowlands of Imzadi:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments: Be very careful when entering this channel or you may find yourself banned. Best advise, read the rules of this channel before entering. In my short stay, I didn't notice any FFRPing, but then again... well, thats a differant storyMy Rating:

• #Dark_World:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments:I had the chance to drop into this channel and talk to its owner. This FFRP site is so new, that the paint job hasn't even dryed yet! I can tell you this much, "If the owner treats everyone like I was teated.. its going to be a big hit!!! the Story line will be based on the future, but he is willing to open his mind to all storylines. UI would love to give him a rating, but it wouldn't be fair.. all I can do is to say "Go there, it looks like it is worth your time!"

• #Vampire_Realm:
  • Location: mIRC [any of the DelNet servers].
    • Comments: The minute I walked into this channel, I was asked to foretake in some RPing... WOW! This channel has little ops and welcomes all new comers. Warm and friendly is how I was treated. Its new, with new ideas and fresh life. Its setting is present time gothic set in LA.

  • Location: mIRC [any of the Undernet servers].
    • Comments: As I entered this channel for the third time in the past few days, not much was going on. This channel only had 2 oped members :"W" and a Bot, there where many members in the room, but very little FFRPing going on. It was more like a Cyber love fest than Free Form Roll Playing. I'm sure that this channels owner adds storylines for its members to play out, but I didn't see the owner nor any storylines. I wasn't even told if this channel has house rules or not. I'm sure it has to be good, or there wouldn't be people in the channel.
